Coaches' Training

WE WANT YOU TO BE SUCCESSFUL

At MYCA, we understand that youth cheer coaches are volunteers.  Many are parents with little experience of cheerleading as it exists today.  Others are student coaches who need guidance on how to best structure a practice or escalate an issue to an adult.  We want your coaches to be successful, and we’ll give them the tools to be just that.

MYCA NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION

An introduction to MYCA, we will provide an overview of our league, basic cheer coaching techniques, and best practices on how to run a successful cheer season.

MYCA COACHES’ & DIRECTORS’ TRAINING

Using a defined skills progression as a basis, we provide coaches’ training on how to safely and properly teach age-appropriate stunt techniques to cheerleaders.  Basic first aid, Epi Pen administration and emergency response preparedness will be covered. Some questions addressed… What stunts should be performed, and at what level? How many spots are necessary to safely perform different stunts? Where do you start and how do you progress?  This is free training, sponsored by MYCA, offered yearly, and required for all directors and coaches.
